We have a natural tendency to eat sweets. People especially those who are very small and people who are aged like sweets to eat. Sweet food helps to uplift our mood and it gives us energy. But most of the sweet foods that are available outside in the market contain a great amount of calorie. You can make your own low calorie sweets at home. They are cheap as well as healthy and hygienic. Here are three excellent recipes.
Mango is one of the most easily available fruits in summer. To make mango sweets you need some simple products.
2 ripe mangoes, 3 cup full cream milk, 1 lemon, and brown sugar.
Peel ripe mangoes. Make smooth pulp of one mango and chop another ripe mango very finely. Squeeze one lemon and preserve the juice. Grind brown sugar to paste. Now boil the milk. When the milk is boiling add the lemon juice in it. Stir well. The milk starts to curdle. When the milk is curdled well remove it from oven and keep the lid on to allow it to settle. Strain the whole thing through a muslin cloth. Now rinse it well to remove the excess water. Now your homemade paneer is ready.
In a bowl add the paneer. Mash it properly. Be sure that there is no lump. Now add the mango pulp. Mix it well. Check the taste of the mixture. Ripe mango is sweet naturally but the sweetness of the mango may not be adequate for the whole product. If you want to make it sweeter add the grounded sugar in the paneer. Again mix well. Brush some clarified butter on a baking tray and put the whole mixture on a baking tray. Bake it for 5-6 minutes in 180 degree centigrades. Remove it from oven and cut them in equal square pieces. Keep them in the refrigerator to make it slightly cooler. Serve them as dessert.
Banana Pan Cake :
It is another low calorie sweet which gives you instant energy.
2 large bananas, 1 cup oatmeal, 2 tablespoon semolina, 2 cups milk, aniseed 1 tablespoon, palm jaggery.
Grind oatmeal and semolina to powder. Grind aniseeds to powder. Grind the banana to paste. In a mixture add oatmeal powder, semolina powder, blended banana, aniseed powder, add jaggery in ample amount, and milk. Mix them properly.
On a pan sprinkle a few drops of olive oil and fry thin and sweet pan cake with this mixture. Serve them hot.
Semolina – 1 cup, clarified butter – 2 tablespoons, brown sugar -1 cup, green cardamom 3-4, bay leaves -2, milk – 2 cups and water.
Heat a pan very worm. Add the semolina in it and stir continuously to make it slightly reddish.
On a pan heat the clarified butter. Make the flame low and add bay leaves and green cardamom. Pour some milk and water in it and cook it. Keep stirring continuously. When the semolina gets thick remove it from heat and pour the thick product on a flat container. Allow it to cool in the open air. When the semolina is half cool cut them in triangular space and leave them to cool properly. It will be slightly hard when it is completely cool. Serve them as tiffin. It is highly nutritious food for everyone.
