Let’s face it….no one likes to clean toilets. There is nothing worse than inhaling the toxic fumes of the toilet cleaner while scrubbing the toilet bowl clean. But, there is an easy alternative. How about making toilet bombs that just fizz and do half the work when you throw them inside the toilet bowl? Sounds amazing right? Yes, making toilet cleaning bombs are quite easy and they take up very less time too. These will make your life easier by doing half the work and they have the added benefit of being natural. So, you will not have to use anything toxic the next time you do the cleaning.
1. Supplies Needed:
You will need baking soda, citric acid, essential oil and water for making these toilet bomb fizzies. You may use any of your favorite essential oil like lavender, lemon, orange or tea tree oil. Essential oils have a pleasing fragrance and they also have antimicrobial properties. So, in addition to making your toilet smell good they also disinfect it.
2. Mix The Ingredients:
Take 2 cups of baking soda and two-thirds cup of citric acid. Mix them together in a bowl. Slowly add water using a spray bottle and mix well. Now the mixture should have the consistency of wet sand. If the mixture is too thin it will not set properly. In that case, add some more baking soda and citric acid to the mixture.
3. Add Essential Oils:
Add about 30 drops of your favorite essential oil to the mixture and mix well. You can use a single essential oil or a combination of oils like 30 drops each of lemon and orange essential oil.
4. Scoop Into Molds:
Now, fill in silicone molds with the mixture and allow it to set. Once dry you can store the toilet bomb fizzies in an appropriate container. Storing these fizzies in airtight containers will keep them fresh for months.
Throw one of these bombs in the toilet bowl and watch them work. Once the fizzing stops, brush the bowl and flush it. Baking soda is an amazing deodorant which will remove all the foul odors and citric acid is an effective cleansing agent which will wash away all the grime.
