Conjunctivitis is a contagious eye disease, which causes redness, infection and inflammation of the conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is the thin and clear tissue, which lies over the white part of the eye and inside the eyelid. The conjunctivitis is caused by the virus, bacteria, allergies and irritants. It can be spread easily from person to person. Its symptoms differ based on the cause of the inflammation. Some of the general symptoms are eye soreness and redness, thick yellow discharge that scab over the eyelashes, itchy eyes, increase in the amount of tears, burning eyes, increased sensitivity to light and blurred vision.
