Ingredients you will need to prepare this moisturizing and rejuvenating are – 300 grams of pure coconut oil, 2 oz. of lye, 100 grams olive oil, 5 grams of pure honey, 5 grams of fragrance oil, 1 tablespoon of shredded loofah and 7 oz. of carrot extract water.
Other than the ingredients, you will also need some special equipment to prepare this amazing soap, like 1 big measuring cup or beaker, 1 large wooden spoon, 1 pair of safety gloves, 1 pair of safety goggles, 1 apron, 1 stick blender, 1 soap mold, 1 butter paper and 1 sharp knife. Though you may not need all of these equipments at once, it is better to keep them handy to avoid unnecessary time waste and hazards.
Make sure that you weight every ingredient exactly with the help of weight machine, so as to be sure about the ingredients. This is because, soap making involves handling hazardous chemicals and it is always recommended to play it safe when working with raw chemicals. Other than weighing the ingredients, also make sure that you equip yourself with the safety gloves, goggles and apron prior to starting the preparation. Last but not the least, prepare the mold by placing the butter paper in it in a manner so that the edges of the paper stick out from the mold, so that you can pull the soap off once it hardens.
Now take the carrot extract water and the lye in two separate glass beakers. With the help of a wooden spoon, add the lye into the carrot water slowly, so that you don’t end up in an accident. Furthermore, make sure that under no circumstances should you add the water to the lye. This is because, the reaction may turn explosive and you may suffer from an unwanted accident.
Once you are done adding the entire lye to the carrot water, stir it with the spoon slowly, until the lye gets completely melted and you get a homogenous mixture. Try not to inhale the fumes while stirring the mixture. You can even the help of a mask to restrict the fumes.
Now take the coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl and pop the bowl into your microwave. Microwave the oil for a few minutes until it gets melted. Remove the oil from the microwave and allow it to cool down. Once the molten coconut oil cools down a bit, add the olive oil to it and stir to mix well.
Now take the lye mixture and add that slowly to the oil mixture, while blending it with a stick blender. Blend the lye and oil mixture with the blender until you start getting soft traces. Make sure that you don’t blend it on highest speed to avoid the mixture spilling out of the beaker.
Once you get the traces in the mixture, add the honey and fragrance oil to the mixture. Stir the added ingredients well until the honey gets mixed up well with the oil and lye mixture. Once you get an even mixture, add the loofah shreds to the mixture and stir well to combine.
Pour In Mold
Once you are ready with the soap mixture, take the prepared soap mold and pour the soap mixture into the mold. Allow the soap to get hardened for 48 hours and then remove the hardened soap from the mold with the help of the sides of the butter paper sticking out of the mold. Place the soap in a well-ventilated room, over a firm surface. Allow the soap to get cured for 4-6 weeks, turning the soap block every day to allow each side to get dried.
