Candles are one of the best charming things which can set any occasion right. They have a certain aura or rather they create an aura which sets in any mood perfect. With the increasing air pollution and bad air being all around us we are often tensed about the air quality that we our inhaling. Many of us do not prefer to light candles thinking about the poor air quality and the candle adding more to it. The poor air quality often has various side effects on our health and also has negative impacts which lead to many illness and diseases.
Though many of us can’t light a candle because of its side effects, there are candles which are absolutely harmless. One can easily prepare these candles at home without much of hassles and efforts. These are quite easy to prepare and are not bad for the environment or your health. One such candle is the bee wax candle. These are interesting candles which you can make easily by following a few steps.
These Steps Have Been Mentioned And Discussed Below
The first step for preparing anything is to segregate and organize its ingredients. Similar is the case for bee wax candles. You need to identify its ingredients and keep them ready. As once you start preparing the candle you will not have enough time to look out for the ingredient and segregate them. The ingredients needed for a bee wax candle are bee wax (which needs to be chopped in roughly equal sizes), mason jars, cotton wicks, palm oil (preferably the organic palm oil), weighing scale (for weighing), skewers, rough paper or newspaper, a measuring cup. Once all these have it will become easier for you to proceed and make the candle.
The second step involves melting the bee wax. You will have to place the bee wax in a pan which can be heated. Make sure the heat is not high as it could lead to ignition of the bee wax. You will have to keep medium temperature of heat while melting the bee wax.
The third step can be done simultaneously with the second step. As the bee wax is melting on the stove, you can prepare a few other things for the bee wax candle. You can prepare the wicks which will be needed for the candle. The wicks need to be cut properly. They should be cut slightly taller than the mason jar which you will be using for the bee wax candle.
The fourth step involves preparing the dips. Once you have cut the wicks in the earlier mentioned step, you will have to wait for the bee wax to melt properly. Once you observe that the bee wax has started melting, you can start dipping the wick which you have cut in the bee wax.
The fifth step involves placing the wicks appropriately and carefully. Once the wick has been dipped in the bee wax, you will have to very carefully place it on the rough sheet of paper or newspaper. You will have to be careful while doing this step. The wick will have to be held by your fingers on one end and you will have to straighten the wick by holding the other end with a skewer and pulling it out. You need to be careful by not being very harsh while doing this step.
The next step involves setting aside the palm oil. You will need the palm oil once the bee wax has melted completely and entirely. You will have to add the palm oil to the bee wax once the latter has melted. Make sure you keep on stirring the bee wax as you add palm oil to it.
In this step we first make sure that the mixture of the bee wax and palm oil has melted and merged well. Once we are sure of this we start mixing the said mixture with a skewer. After mixing the mixture for a while, you will have to start preparing for the candle.
In this step you will need the mason jars which you have kept aside for the candles. Firstly you will have to pour about one half inch of the hot wax in the jar. This shall be the bottom most level of the jar. As soon as the hot was has been poured, you will have to place the wick in the center of the jar. Make sure that the wick touches the bottom of the jar. As the wick does not settle immediately, you will have to keep holding the wick till the bee wax hardens. Once this is done, leave the jar for the bee wax to harden completely.
The ninth step involves finishing the candle. You will need a skewer on top of every jar. Slowly and gently wrap the wick around the skewer. Be careful of the position. It shall be absolutely straight. Once this is done, pour the wax into the jar. You need to make sure that the top of the jar is kept slightly empty. The candle needs to be kept aside to harden completely, which may take from half a day to an entire day.
These are a few steps which can help you make a bee wax candle. It is easy and a beautiful candle which does no harm. You can repeat the same steps to make more candles.
