Are you fed up of having to deal with dry, chapped skin? It’s time to make your own lotion bars to keep your skin moisturized and soft. Lotion bars are a lot easier to use than lotions that come in bottles. For one thing, they are easier to carry around while travelling as you do not have to worry about spills or accidental leaks. Another positive thing about lotion bars is that they can be used quite easily by kids. Imagine a kid applying lotion from a bottle. Horrified? With lotion bars, your kid will just have to pick one solid bar and apply it on the skin. Easy, right? So go ahead, make these lotion bars and stay moisturized all year round.
Here Are Simple Steps To Make Moisturizing Lavender Lotion Bars
Step 1: Ingredients Required
You will need equal parts of beeswax, Shea butter or cocoa butter and coconut oil. You will also need lavender essential oil and silicone molds for making these super easy lotion bars.
Step 2: Melt The Ingredients
Take about ½ cup each of beeswax, coconut oil and shea butter in a saucepan or double boiler and heat until they completely melt. You can also take the ingredients in a bowl and melt them by placing the bowl in hot water and slowly stirring the contents with a spoon.
Step 3: Add Essential Oil
Once the mixture is completely melted, add about 10 to 20 drops of lavender essential oil and stir. Lavender has a pleasing fragrance that relieves stress and calms the mind. It also has antibacterial properties that are good for relieving skin infections and bug bites. Lavender essential oil has also been found to be effective in reducing the harmful effects of excessive sun exposure.
Step 4: Pour In Molds
Pour the mixture into silicone molds and leave them to cool for some time. Once the bars solidify, remove them from the molds and place them in a suitable container. For usage, just take a bar and hold it in your hand until it begins to warm up and then rub it over your body.
Step 5: Additional Tips
If you stay in a place where the temperature is high, the bars might not stay solid and will start getting soft. In such cases, just increase the quantity of beeswax to make firmer bars.
