Favorite among kids and adults alike, waffles have always been great option for breakfast. However; the recipe provided below is for something special. Just as the name suggests, these rainbow waffles are color-popped and fun. Though it may seem like a lot of work needs to be done to prepare these wonderful waffles, these are pretty easy to prepare and you can even indulge your kids in the process.
To prepare this color-popped and fun dish, you will need the following Ingredients- 2 cups of Bisquick baking mix, 1 cup of full fat milk, food coloring (red, blue, green, orange, purple and yellow), 2 eggs and whipping cream (for serving). It is always recommended to keep the required Ingredients ready at hand, so as to avoid any mishaps and to lessen the preparation time and hassles.
You will need some additional utensils to prepare this colorful waffle, like 1 circular waffle press, 6 medium sized bowls, 1 big bowl, 6 piping bags, 1 blender or whisk and 1 wooden spoon. You may have to resort to other utensils and equipments as well while preparing the dish. However; the above mentioned items are quintessential.
Heat Waffle Press
Now that you are ready with the required ingredients and utensils required to prepare this delightful dish, allow your waffle press to get preheated, so that you can start making the waffles as soon as you get ready with the waffle batter.
Once you have set your waffle press to get heated up, you can then start with the preparation process of the waffle batter. For that, take the large mixing bowl and place it over your kitchen counter. Dump the Bisquick baking mix into the bowl and to that add the milk a little at a time, while whisking the batter. Once the entire milk gets mixed in the dry mix, add the eggs one by one and continue whisking until you get a smooth batter.
Add Food Coloring
Once you get a smooth batter, divide it into six equal portions in the six small bowls, adding a little more to the bowls in which you will add the red and orange colors. Add the food colors to each bowl and stir well with a wooden spoon, so that the food coloring gets mixed up nicely with the batter.
Preparing Piping Bags
Now that you are ready with the batters, take the piping bags and start filling those up with the batters of different colors, keeping in mind not to mix different color batters in the same piping bag. Cut the tips of the piping bags with a scissor, while ensuring that you don’t cut it too wide.
Once you have the waffle batters of different colors ready, take the piping bag in which you have stored the red colored waffle batter and squeeze out the batter all along the edge of the waffle press. Continue that with the orange colored waffle batter and then with the batter of other colors, keeping in mind to create different layers of different colors, like you see in a rainbow. Once you have filled the press completely with the batter, press it down and allow the waffle to get cooked. Once done, remove the waffle from the waffle press and continue with the remaining batter.
Once the waffles get cooked, serve those with whipping cream.
