Bronchitis is one of the respiratory disorder, which is caused by the inflamed mucous membrane in the lungs. The infected membrane gets swollen and thicker, which tightens the tiny airways in the lungs that results in cough, phlegm and breathlessness. There are two types of bronchitis, namely acute bronchitis and chronic bronchitis. The acute bronchitis are caused due to the viral infection in the upper respiratory system and results in cough and phlegm, which last for a short duration such as 1to 3 weeks. The chronic bronchitis are a severe disease, which continues for the longer duration, such as 3 months continuously in every alternative year and requires regular medical treatment.
