Recipe 1: Homemade Flaxseed Hair Styling Gel
Ingredients:
¼ cup flaxseeds
2 cups of distilled water
Few drops of essential oil / vitamin E oil/ aloe (optional)
The single ingredient flaxseed can help you to create completely natural hair gel which is fantastic for taming curly, frizzy and coarse hair. It will also provide everything you expect from a good hair gel like style, shine and wetness only using raw unflavored flaxseeds. Along with styling your hair, flaxseed will also provide nourishment to your hair as it is packed with nutrients like omega 3 fatty acids, fiber, copper manganese, magnesium, copper, selenium, vitamin B1 and amino acids which will keep your hair soft, shiny and detangled. You can add few drops of essential oil of your choice, Aloe or vitamin E oil to add fragrance and moisturizing element and customize the gel.
Method Of Making Gel
You can either soak flax seeds overnight or cook them directly. Soaking will reduce your cooking time. Boil the flaxseed in a pan adding water. Simmer the heat for 10-15 minutes and stir occasionally using a wooden spoon. Soon you will see that seeds have started producing gel. Now do a spoon test to know whether gel is ready. It drips easily, and then it needs to be cooked more. But don’t allow the gel to be extra thick. If your hair is very curly, get the gel out of heat when it is little runny. Now strain the gel using a strainer into a bowl or directly into the glass container in which you are going to store it. Throw away the seeds. Add essential oil or moisturizing agent, if you want. You can store the gel in refrigerator for extending its life. Apply on wet hair after shower.
Recipe 2: DIY Lemon Hair Gel
Ingredients:
1 tbsp. gelatin
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup water
For moisturizing elements;
2 tsp. coconut oil
2tsp. Aloe Vera gel
Preparation
Mix gelatin and water in a saucepan and bring to boil over medium heat until the gelatin dissolves completely. Add lemon juice after removing from the heat and stir with wooden spoon. Allow the gel to cool. After the gel has set, mix moisturizing elements like Aloe Vera and melted coconut oil. Whisk the solution either using a blender on low speed or with your hand. The gel will become creamy. Store in a glass container covered with a lid in fridge. You can use it for about 2 weeks when stored in fridge.
