Deodorants are used to mask the odor that perspiration causes. The more you sweat, the more your skin promotes bacteria that causes odor. Store bought deodorant are not only expensive, they often contain harmful toxic chemicals and preservatives like aluminum that are harmful for our health and can cause skin irritation. If you prefer natural products, making homemade natural deodorant has many benefits. You can use ingredients that are gentle to your skin, effectively moisturizes the skin and eliminates odor without blocking the sweat glands.
Here Is An Easy And Quick Recipe Which Requires Few Simple Ingredients And Inexpensive Too
You Will Need:
• 2 tablespoon Shea butter
• 3 tablespoon Coconut Oil
• 3 tablespoon baking Soda
• 2 tablespoons corn starch
• 2-3 Vitamin E gel capsules
• 10-15 drops of essential oils of your choice (optional)
• An empty container to store deodorant
Some essential oils act as antimicrobials. So adding them is a good idea because perspiration causes smell due to presence of bacteria. Some of the good alternatives are lavender, sandalwood, tea tree, neem oil and lemon. You can either use any one of them or blend them to create your own scent. Unrefined shea butter is extremely soothing for the skin as it contains vitamin A and E. If shea butter is not available easily, you can simply use coconut oil. It also works pretty well. Coconut oil contains wonderful antibacterial properties. You can also use almond oil, instead of coconut oil, as it can help to make the deodorant more fluid.
Instructions
Get a glass jar with wide open mouth and a lid (like antique jars or pickle jar). Melt coconut oil and shea butter in double boiler over low or medium heat. If you do not want to use double boiler, place the jar with lid in a saucepan filled half with water on the stove until melted. Remove the pan from heat, add baking soda and corn starch and mix well. Puncture 2-3 vitamin E oil capsules and squeeze the oil in the mixture. Add essential oil of your choice and mix thoroughly. If you want to leave your deodorant unscented, skip this step. Store it in a glass jar or an old deodorant container and apply a little bit after bathing every time.
