Think again before you throw away the peels after eating oranges. The peels can be used to decorate your home. Making orange tea lights is super easy and looks good too. Once you light up these orange tea lights, your home will be filled with that wonderful citrus scent that will make you feel refreshed.
Here Are The Easy Steps To Make Your Own Orange Tea Lights:
Things You Need:
You will need an orange, a wick, glue, any vegetable oil such as coconut oil, olive oil, sesame oil, etc. and a pair of scissors or knife. You can also take a small tea light candle if you are going to use the alternate method.
Prepare The Oranges:
Cut the orange into 2 halves and remove the pulp within. One half of the orange will serve as the base to pour your oil and the other half can be used to close the lamp. Take one of the peels and cut out an interesting shape using the scissors or knife. You can cut out a plain circle or a more interesting star or whatever shape fancies you.
Prepare The Lamp:
Now pour the oil into the uncut peel and place a wick in between. You can also stick the wick at the center of the orange peel in order to prevent it from falling off. You will have to trim the wick according to the size of the orange. Otherwise, if the flame is too high it might burn the upper orange lid. Instead of using a wick, you can also use the center portion of the orange peel as a wick. While removing the pulp, be careful and do not remove the center white part. Now, light up the wick and close the lamp using the other orange peel.
Instead of pouring oil and using the wick, you can also place a small tea light candle inside the orange peel. This will have the same effect and the same aroma.
Decorate Your Home:
These tea lights will take hardly 5 minutes to make and lighting them makes your home feel warm and cozy. Really, who doesn’t like the smell of oranges? Lighting up these candles after a long day at work will brighten up your home and leave you in good spirits.
